This Spear and Jackson petrol hedge trimmer has a blade length of 56cm and a blade tooth gap of 28mm which means you can cut through twigs of up to 28mm in safety (this is nearly one inch in diameter so should cope well with most of your cutting requirements).
The blade is dual action which means that the blades work in opposing directions resulting in a clean cut and less vibration in use for you, the operator – meaning you can use the machine for longer without the fatigue associated with high-vibration machines. The blades also have a large, protective safety guard.
It has quite a powerful 26 cc two stroke engine and has the safety feature of a lock off switch. It also has a swivel rear handle. Machine weighs 5.8 kilograms.
This model comes with a two year manufacturer’s warranty from Spear and Jackson and is available from Amazon at a great price. Here is the link to the product page Spear and Jackson Petrol Hedge Trimmer

“Worked better than I expected – until the screw holding the air filter cover fell off on the second use! Rang the spares customer helpline to be told they don’t do spares and I would have to take the unit back to Argos for a replacement cutter – for a screw? – Really? Replaced the screw myself and it is working well again. Starts well and as long as you keep plenty of fuel in it (don’t let it get too low or it will start to cut out) it keeps going. A bit heavy in use but then again they all are. Can’t complain for the money – works well for me.”
“Great machine for the price, plenty of power works as well as more pricey equipment I have used. Fuelled it up and started fine straight out of the box have used it loads for couple of months now starts and runs fine. Adjustable handle makes trimming tops and sides easier. 2Year guarantee good news if needed.”
“the machine works well and i think is good value overall . powerful easy to use a little heavy but that’s going to be the case with all petrol engine powered tools. powers through mature hedging easily. came without instructions (got them e-mailed to me) and the petrol/ oil mixer bottle was not in the box, 1 out of 10 for the packing department.
